About Me
I'm a Senior Software Engineer with over 10 years of experience building full-stack applications. Currently at Zego, I architect and lead development of distributed payment systems that process billions of dollars in transactions for property managers nationwide.
Most of my work lives in the JavaScript and TypeScript world: React, Node.js, and the kind of microservices that have to stay up while money is moving through them. What I enjoy most is the messy middle of a hard problem, and helping the engineers around me get unstuck. The work I gravitate toward tends to be the quiet kind, like the payment authentication system I'm leading now, aimed at heading off around $16M in chargebacks.
I also build and ship my own software. Retext, a native macOS text-expansion app with AI snippets, started as a way to learn Swift and turned into a real product with paying customers. Doing every part of it myself, from the keyboard engine to the billing, has quietly made me better at my day job too. Most recently I shipped Grocery Voice, a voice-first iOS grocery app that turns what you say into an aisle-ready list and sends it to your real Kroger cart—built end to end in a week. I'm also building DiffSmith, an agentic AI pull-request reviewer, to dig into the LLM tool-calling and eval work I find genuinely interesting.
Outside of software, the year I spent volunteering in Montenegro, building a community center and teaching English in a small mountain town, has stuck with me more than any project on this site. It's a good reminder that the point of all this is people.
